Excuses. We all make them. Excuses to go out for dinner (the kitchen’s a mess after all), excuses not to call a friend (she’s always complaining), excuses not to work out (I thought I felt something in my knee).
We also make excuses not to start new businesses. People do this even when the idea of being an entrepreneur is literally all they ever think about.
They STILL fail to take action.
Why?
It all comes down to three limiting beliefs based around Time, Money and Fear.
You have probably made excuses based on one or more of these.
- “Oh, my kids haven’t started school yet, I don’t have time until they do”
- “My job needs me too much, I can’t quit”
- “I need more money first” <– this one’s really bad, because most people who say this aren’t actively saving
- “I’m afraid I’ll fail”
- “My mother thinks I’ll fail” (yikes!)
- “If I’m successful I’m afraid I won’t know what to do next”
And on…and on and on. In 6 years of coaching start-ups I think I’ve heard everything.
Let’s cut the excuses and see where the real obstacles are – in our heads…for the most part.
Now I’m not here to chide you or make you feel bad. I just want you to see that you can remove almost any obstacle that you think is in your path.
